My views on St. Valentine's Day have not altered much over the past few years. I quote my Feb. 14, 2005 entry (one of my shortest):
Anyhow, lots of nice techie things have been happening today:
It's overrated. Get rid of it.
Anyhow, lots of nice techie things have been happening today:
- Apple announced that it's finally shipping the MacBook Pros, but there's also a pleasant surprise! The 1.67GHz models are getting a free upgrade to 1.83GHz and the 1.83GHz models are getting a free upgrade to 2.00GHz, with an option of upgrading to 2.16GHz for an extra $300 ($270 for Education). So, the top-of-the-line MacBook Pro will now cost an educational customer $2,569 and, at the Stanford Bookstore, about $2140.
- The loveliest Mozilla-based browser on the planet, Camino (only for Mac OS X) has finally matured to 1.0 after about 5 years! Hurray!
Apple released a fix for a lot of glitches with the new Intel iMacs today in its 10.4.5 (Build 8G1454) update. This makes me very happy.- It seems that Macs find it easier to talk to Xboxes than Windows PCs. Read more on Ars Technica's Infinite Loop.
- Although this news didn't strictly come out today, new iPod nanos in a 1GB size are available and they seem to have a tiny 1mm ridge which prevents excessive scratching. Read more on Infinite Loop.
- Again, although I didn't do this today, I have recently posted a review of my iMac Core Duo (2.0GHz/20") and it is obviously a glowing one. Go check it out.
